Get to Know Your Cattlemen’s Beef Board Members – Arin Crooks
Arin Crooks, herd manager for the University of Wisconsin-Lancaster Ag Research Station, was recently appointed to the Cattlemen’s Beef Board and will serve on the Domestic Marketing Committee. “Arin brings us a unique perspective, having conducted countless research trials at the University of Wisconsin’s research station,” said Norman Voyles, 2022 CBB chairman. “His research-focused mind and being a cattle producer himself will make him a valuable resource for the CBB and the Beef Checkoff.”
The Beef Checkoff program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States may retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
