John is a fifth-generation cattleman in St. Francisville, Louisiana, where he has lived his whole life. Together, he and wife Heather run John Thompson Farms, a cow/calf, stocker, timber, and heavy equipment business. John has been an active part of the industry, including membership in the Cattle Producers of Louisiana, Louisiana Livestock Brand Commission, and Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation State Board. He also serves as Vice Chair for the Louisiana Beef Industry Council and Farm Service Agency, as President of the Tri-Parish Coop, President of the Feliciana Farm Bureau Federation, and sits on the West Feliciana Parish Ag Advisory Committee.
