The American Farm Bureau Foundation was incepted in November 1967 as a foundation focused on agricultural research and education. In the beginning, the Foundation focused primarily on research for advancing agricultural mechanization and technology. With that goal accomplished and the vast increase in cost to complete research, the focus on education was strengthened and is currently the life blood of the Foundation. The AFBFA is helping learners of all ages understand agriculture and the important role it plays in our daily lives. Additionally, it is creating agriculturally literate citizens through educational programs, grants, scholarships, classroom curriculum and volunteer trainings.
The AFBFA also builds relationships with educational institutions to introduce agriculture education tools and resources, and it encourages adoption at the community, county, state and national level.
